Meet Me

Hello. I'm Sandy.

I notice things.

Always have. The apostrophe in the wrong place, the contact form that goes nowhere, the sign that hasn't been updated since 2019, the lovely welcome undone by a grubby doormat.

Sandy, founder of The Detail Matters

Sandy Ruddock BEM

With over 30 years' experience in business, I started my working life as an executive PA, where exacting standards and attention to detail were simply part of the job. I went on to run my own consultancy, training everyone from students to chief executives in presentation, etiquette and reputation management.

I also founded, built and successfully ran my own business for 13 years, and voluntarily helped develop other businesses through my role on the Board of the Local Enterprise Partnership, for which I was proud to be awarded the British Empire Medal in 2023.

I also understand what happens when you are simply too close to it. You stop seeing things. Not because you don't care, but because you see them every day. And when you're already doing ten jobs yourself, the details are often the first things to slip.

I know the desire to do everything perfectly — and the difficulty of delegating it when you care deeply about your business.

If only I'd had someone like me.

That's why The Detail Matters exists.

My strength is attention to detail: strong proofreading, a good eye for design and presentation, and a habit of spotting the awkward customer journeys and missed opportunities that everyday familiarity hides.

I am not selling complicated marketing jargon or unnecessary technology. My role is to look at your business through your customers' eyes, say clearly what I find, and recommend practical action you can actually take.

Forensic. Straight talking. Proactive.
